A Message To Our Tacoma Strength Community
Tacoma Strength will always be a strong group rooted in community. Our bond between friends and gym members is stronger than any PR we can achieve with a barbell. We talk about testing our mettle and applying a competition mindset to many of our workouts. And there has never been a time like now to test this community strength.
So, with COVID-19 on everyone’s mind, the staff of Tacoma Strength would like to update you on what we are doing in these unprecedented times.
First off, we are not closing the gym or canceling any classes at this time.
But, we are making some changes though to help “flatten the curve” and maintain our new favorite introvert term “social distancing.”
Please read our update on what we are doing to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus while maintaining a place for you to feel safe, experience much-needed community and maintain and increase your overall health.
CLASSES AND SCHEDULE
- We will be closed on Sunday 3/15 (wait… you’re closed on Sundays already!) to do a deep clean
and wipe down of the gym. We will reopen at 5:30 pm for Jack’s Yin yoga class. Please join us then. Got some time to donate and want to help? Join us at 2:30 pm to help wipe the gym down. Snacks will be provided!
- We will continue to run all regular classes and open gym.
- We reserve the right to limit class size participation to maintain successful social distancing. At
this time we are limiting each class to 10 participants.
- You can ensure a spot in a limited size class by reserving your spot online through the PushPress
app.
- Also, you can help ensure a spot in a class, by arriving on time. A favorite quote: “Early is on time.
On-time is late.”
- As the young folks say, “stay in your lane” will be a good approach to how classes will be run, to
help ensure social distancing. When applicable, you will have an assigned area in which to do your class workout. We will help ensure some social distancing and your help with this new idea will be appreciated.
CLEANING
- We have used an industry-leading HepaStat disinfectant at Tacoma Strength for many years. We
will make it more readily available throughout the gym. This disinfectant kills viruses and germs, such as COVID-19 and the influenza virus.
- We will encourage the liberal use of disinfectant during classes and on equipment.
- We encourage everyone to wash and/or disinfect their hands when arriving in the gym and after working out.
- Please do not use the restrooms for changing at this time. We need to keep them available for handwashing.
- Please do not use the bathroom sinks for drinking out of. (I can't believe I just had to write that!) Please alert a trainer if you see something that needs cleaning.
- We will be building cleaning into our regular class programming. Your help is appreciated.
EQUIPMENT
- We have always provided disinfectant wipes and sprays, but are now making it mandatory for all equipment used to be wiped down immediately after use.
- We will limit the sharing of equipment during classes. This may mean limiting some class sizes For yoga classes, you will need to bring your own yoga mats until this outbreak is contained.
STAY ALERT. KNOW THE SIGNS
- We encourage anyone with signs of illness to stay home and rest. Please do not attend the gym. That means, if you have any sort of elevated fever - do NOT come in the gym! Do not come back until you have no fever for at least 24 hours WITHOUT medication.
- Our trainers will keep an eye out for the health of the whole gym and will ask anyone showing signs of illness to please excuse themselves from the gym and return when healthy again.
- Our trainers will also not work, coach or clean if they are feeling ill or have a fever.
COMMUNITY
- Please come to the gym if you are able to. You need it. Your community needs it. And we are a small business - so we need you too! But if you are not able to, we will be providing body strength, at-home workouts in your TeamBuildr app. Keep moving! Also, we will post some group workouts where you can meet up outside the gym as well (First one is Sunday, March 22 at 8:00 am - Stadium Stairs! See you there!)
- Be sure to stay online! Tag us in a workout post #TacomaStrength or @tacomastrength on Instagram. We would love to hear from you if we are unable to see you for awhile.
Thank you for your help in these new and challenging times.
Sincerely,
The Tacoma Strength Team - Craig, Jordan, Meredith, David, JoAnn, Chris, Andrew, Jack, and Val.
